There are a significant number of footpaths through The Montreal Estate woodland and its adjacent agricultural land.
These footpaths are open to the public and are popular for recreational walking.
If you are planning a walk on the Estate, please ensure you stay on the public footpaths, bridle ways and byways for your safety.
As a working Estate there are many activities occurring each day which could be dangerous to the public. Whilst there is signage in certain areas to assist, we ask that you download the Ordnance Survey app to your phone to avoid getting lost and to ensure you stay on public footpaths, bridle ways and by ways. The App can tell you precisely where you are so that you do not get unnecessarily lost.
A tree survey is undertaken approximately every three years to make sure that, as far as is reasonably possible, all trees on the Estate aligning footpaths, bridleways, byways, roads and properties are safe. We also care for the safety of visitors to the Estate and are delighted that a new Emergency Services telephone mast has recently been installed at Mackerels Plain to give a wider coverage in the event of an accident.
